Rainbow Brite Costume

Do you remember Rainbow Brite? I do! One of the best ways to pay tribute to this amazing show is to dress up like her for Halloween or a costume party. You have a choice, you can make a Rainbow Brite costume yourself, or you can buy one online or in a Halloween store.

Either way, if you buy one or not, you will need to figure out what to do with your hair. It is rare that these costumes come with wigs. You will need to have long blonde hair. If your hair is long, and blonde, or you are willing to dye it, then you are good to go. If you have short hair, or cannot dye it, then go out and buy a cheap blonde wig. The hair should be worn on the top of the head in a very high ponytail.

You will need the classic Rainbow Brite blue dress, if buying a costume set, this will come in it, as well as the rainbow arm warmers. If not, you can find or make a simple blue dress. You will most likely need to make the arm warmers as well. They are rainbow, of different colors, and each color is stuffed so it is puffy.

You will want to add a white ribbon, or boa to the bottom of the blue dress. Be creative and find something that works for you! You will also need a belt of some sort. I prefer a rainbow or a red belt. Attach a rainbow patch to the front of the belt.

Next you will need to get a pair of shoes. These may or may not come in the costume set. You can generally do what you want here. Some people use a pair of blue or white heels, others wear white go go boots, and still others will wear white snow boots. See what you have to play with. Or, use it as an excuse to buy new shoes!
